NamRA shares its journey at FfD4

The Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development (FfD4) has entered its third day, with discussions progressing well. 

On the margin of the FfD4, the NamRA Commissioner yesterday (Tuesday) shared the NamRA journey with the Team Europe Initiative. 

Team Europe Initiative is comprised Finland, Sweden, Germany, France and the European Union. The initiative has mobilized financial resources to support partners like NamRA, the African Tax Administration Forum, African Union and the African Development Bank to fight illicit financial flows (IFF), anti money laundering and innovative solutions in the areas of digitization. 

Reflecting on the NamRA journey, Commissioner Sam SHIVUTE highlighted increased revenue collection, enhanced tax and customs administration, and improved tax to GDP ratio of 33 percent, adding that Namibia was among 23 countries in the world with scoped and measured the impact of IFF, to deploy interventions.

The Commissioner also shared his thoughts and inputs for the upcoming EU-AU summit on how to effectively deliver on the FfD4 commitments in respect of Domestic Resource Mobilisation.
