NamRA Customs and Excise Staff Earn International Freight Forwarding Diplomas

FIATA Diploma Graduates

NamRA continues to invest in professional development and trade expertise, as three of its Customs and Excise staff Laimi Iikela, Johannes Shikwaya and Stephanus Akathingo, were among 17 graduates awarded the FIATA Diploma in International Freight Forwarding and Logistics in Wednesday in Windhoek. The qualification was offered through Global Maritime Learning Solutions in collaboration with the Namibia Logistics Association.

The FIATA Diploma, awarded by the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations, is a globally recognised qualification in the logistics and freight forwarding sector. FIATA is a Geneva-based organisation representing more than 40,000 freight forwarders and logistics providers worldwide. The diploma equips professionals with the technical and regulatory knowledge needed in international trade and is recognised in over 100 countries.

NamRA’s Senior Manager for Trade Facilitation Victoria Weyulu, who served as guest speaker at the graduation, applauded all graduates and highlighted the relevance of the programme to Namibia’s evolving trade environment.

“This achievement reflects the growing drive among professionals to build strong competencies in logistics and trade,” said Weyulu. “We are proud that our staff are taking the initiative to upskill themselves to support traders more effectively, apply global standards and contribute to a more efficient and trusted customs system.”

She added that the knowledge gained through such qualifications strengthens Namibia’s trade facilitation environment and, by extension, compliance.
Reflecting on the experience, graduate Johannes Shikwaya, Senior Customs & Excise Officer, said the programme was both demanding and enriching.

NamRA congratulates the graduates for their dedication and commitment to professional growth which will bring added value to the trading community.
